In this fellowship, Shir Hadash trains a new cadre of future leaders – Rabbis, educators and communal activists – in the art of ‘hesed’ programming. The fellows, who come from across the religious spectrum, learn about Judaism’s concern with disadvantaged populations as well as how our tradition suggests to best care for them. Following the classroom learning, the fellows go out and both meet inspirational leaders in the field as well as volunteer their services to various causes. At the end of the year, the fellows have acquired the tools necessary to make hesed an integral part of their future communities as well forged meaningful relationships with potential colleauges from across the denominational divide.
