Now Shir Hadash is on the move again, this time with the ‘look’ of our weekly announcements. In making this move, we hope to not only provide information in a more appealing fashion, but also to make it more relevant to fulfill your specific needs. If you have not yet uploaded your information on our new server, please take a moment to do so now – simply visit our website and ‘sign’ up to receive the newsletter. When you do, you will be prompted to choose what type of information you wish to receive from us.
Other new ‘moves’ are on the way as well, including lots of new faces, programming and initiatives, all of which we look forward to sharing with you over the coming months. Until then, Shabbat Shalom and Chag Kasher v’Sameach,
Chaim (Ian) Pear
Founding Rabbi
Shabbat HaGadol
DRASHA
Following the kiddush this Shabbat, Rabbi Pear will deliver a shiur entitled: “Are Egyptian Rebels the New Jews? Thoughts on Liberation Now and Then.”
COMMUNAL LUNCH
Following the drasha, those with previous reservations are invited to remain and enjoy a delicious catered meal by Chef Yehoshua. Unfortunately the meal is fully booked and we can no longer take additional reservations.
Musical Hallel
Be sure to join us on the first day of Chol HaMoed Pesach (Wednesday morning) for an inspiring musical hallel with musical instruments led by the amazing Shlomo Abramson. Shacharit at 8:15 AM. And remember, bring you instruments with you and add to the joy!
Welcome Guests
As always, Shir Hadash welcomes to shul numerous overseas’ guests visiting for Pesach, including a group of teenagers this Shabbat and Psychology students from Australia right after Pesach. We offer a special welcome on Pesach itself to Rabbi Haskel Lookstein and his 140 person strong mission from Congregation KJ in New York. Rabbi Lookstein will be our guest speaker Shabbat Chol HaMoed.
Some odds & ends
Most classes and regular programming will take a brief hiatus during Pesach, but not our daf yomi. Meets daily at 9:05 AM.
Any ‘Second Seders’ out there. We’ve received a couple of requests. If so, please e-mail our hospitality coordinator, Peta Pellach, at shirhadashhospitality@ymail.com to host guests.
A number of upcoming Shabbatot have kiddushim available for sponsorship. If interested in sponsoring one, please e-mail shirhadash613@gmail.com to volunteer.
There will be no Children’s service THIS Shabbat as the gan rooms have already been cleaned for Pesach and must remain closed during Shabbat. The rooms will, however, be opened up during Pesach itself.
As always, if you want to share S’machot or other important news, e-mail shirhadash613@gmail.com to keep us updated.
